The HECToR Service is now closed and has been superceded by ARCHER.

HECToR 100% Quad Core

We are delighted to advise that HECToR is now back in service following the second stage of the quad core upgrade.

HECToR is now available at 100% capacity, with 5564 quad core compute nodes (22656 cores) available for your use. The maximum job size that is supported is now 4096 nodes, and the max available core count is now 16,384.

Job accounting remains suspended, and will remain so until the availability tests have been completed (estimated mid July). We would urge you to take this opportunity to test your codes on quad core.

Using Quad Core

We would like to remind users that you should recompile your parallel codes. The instructions along with the full explanation of what the quad core upgrade entails are available here.

Note: Jobs in the serial queues will continue to run on dual core nodes. Serial jobs should not be compiled with the quad core optimisations set. Details on compiling serial jobs are available in the User Guide

Any users requiring assistance should contact the HECToR Helpdesk.
