The HECToR Service is now closed and has been superceded by ARCHER.

Welcome To Quad Core

We are delighted to advise that HECToR is now back in service following the initial stage of the quad core upgrade.

HECToR is now available at 50% capacity, with 2784 quad core compute nodes (11136 cores) available for your use. The maximum job size that is supported remains at 2048 nodes, although the available max core count is now 8192. The remaining nodes are now offline for upgrade. These are expected to be returned to service June 29th. Exact details will follow nearer the time.

Job accounting has now been suspended, and will remain so until the availability tests have been completed (estimated mid July). We would urge you to take this opportunity to test your codes on quad core.

Using Quad Core

We would like to remind users that you should recompile your codes. The instructions along with the full explanation of what the quad core upgrade entails are available here.

The User Guide has also been updated to reflect the new architecture.

Any users requiring assistance should contact the HECToR Helpdesk.
